Enemy Attack Prevention
Feint (C) for Tactics players is
similar to A Test of Will for Spirit players, it is just hard to argue not to
include it in the deck (notable exception being the Battle of Lake-town quest
where Feint will be all but useless against the might of Smaug the greatest
calamity of the Third Age).
You need three (not printed) Tactics heroes to pay for Thicket of Spears (C). Then you can get
a more potent version of the above, but overall this is way, way more
situational than Feint.
It is nice to get an enemy attack prevention in the Spirit sphere, in
the shape of Out of Sight (D4).
Compared to Thicket of Spears, this only works against the enemies engaged with
you (not other players) and it is also even more expensive unless you get the
secrecy discount. Highly situational again but certainly an interesting option
in the least combatant sphere.
Forest Snare (C) can take care of
one engaged enemy indefinitely (unless something unexpected happens). The
problem lies in it being an attachment, so the standard procedure is to battle
the enemy for a round and then snare it the following round. The nice combo is
Vilya, as it allows to play the card after the enemy is engaged but before it
attacks.
Hobbit-sense (S3) is a very situational card. You need a Hobbit-only line-up, and you can forget striking back; but otherwise it does exactly the same as Out of Sight. The cost is also equal, considering the secrecy discount.
