Introduction
Unlike
rating art, which is contradictory to its purpose, as Mr Keating will tell you
in Dead Poets Society (most recommended), rating strategic capability of a
player’s deck in the Lord of the Rings the Card Game can be much more
objective. The following concentrates on just that, dividing quality of a deck
(including its heroes) into 16 strategic categories (category #17 is entirely
devoted to theme, though that often goes hand in hand with strategy too). When
reviewing a deck, zero to five stars will be assigned to each category to
illustrate at what areas the deck excels and which it neglects. When the given
deck is then tested against various quests over a number of games, one should
be able to conclude which areas are essential in defeating which scenarios. The
star rating is subjective in a way but given with the best intentions at
objectivity, and intense experience of the game since the beginning of its
existence.
